I thought it would be nice to have a little chat over a cup of coffee. Ha ha, get it?
I've been up to my eyeballs in corn kernals and calf poop. Not literally, of course. We've been very busy combining and sorting off the calves from the cows.
So, how you been? How are the kids? Kale had a terrible ear ache yesterday. The teacher tried to call us but when you're working in the boonies there is nothing for service around here.
Do you have big plans for the weekend? I'll probably be in a corn field somewhere.
Do you have Halloween costumes for the kids picked out? Nikia is going to be a leopard and I have no idea what Kale is going to be. He's getting too old for those store bought costumes so it has to be something that we can put together at home. I could really use some good ideas. Last year he was a hunter - camo from head to toe along with a duck call and a deer grunt hanging around his neck.
I know this was a really short visit, but my coffee cup is empty and I really need to get going. I need to get the combine fueled up and greased and empty a couple of grain carts before we get started this morning I'm sure you're very busy as well. It was nice chatting with you. We should really do this again sometime. Take care!

I would like to share a cup with you! I bought some Peppermint Mocha creamer today at the store. I am having to make 20 cupcakes for snack day at Savannah's school this afternoon. Husband is gone till Saturday working cows! So it will be me and the kids. The school is having there Fall Carnival Saturday, I have to work a 30 mintue slot at the bounce house. Savannah will probably be a horse again this year. I am getting some good mileage out of that costume! WHOO HOO!! Other than that church on Sunday and picking up pecans. I enjoyed our chat, thanks for inviting me! Hope you have a great day in the fields and a great weekend.
Let's see...GOOD AFTERNOON (it's naptime...for the kids, not me...darn) Caymen is going to be a ladybug and well, Dawson SUPERMAN! We are going trick or treating at the ZOO in SF tomorrow night. Then to the cities for the Vikings game on Saturday. I hope you enjoyed your coffee. I better keep reading blogs. Lots to read at naptime!!
Have a great weekend Amy!! Don't get too deep in the cow poop...it might stink!
This was a cute post Amy. I've been following your horse story with tears in my eyes everytime.
I'm sitting here reading blogs while I "listen" to Janelle reading "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"...better go and start paying attention!!
Hi there. You are so dang pretty! I don't drink coffee, so I'm drinking Crystal Lite. The kids are ready for Halloween - well Nathan is. I'm positive that it's going to scare Claire out of her skin. Should be more fun than one person can handle.
You should just do a video blog next time. That's what it felt like to me.
Just finished my coffee, but could use another.
My son's a handful, but he's been healthy.
We don't have anything planned for the weekend.
Just Son will be a knight for Halloween, sword and all. (yippee)
Last year he was Yoda (with Lightsaber and all).
It was a short visit, but I enjoyed it.
Have fun in the fields.
Evenin'!
No coffee for me thanks. It smells great but it doesn't taste all that good. I've got my iced tea here with me so I'm good.
My daughter and I are going to the city for my older daughters bridal shower. Should be lots of fun. I haven't even seen her engagement ring yet or her gown or anything else. Can't wait to get going in the morning!
How about a pirate? Bandana around his head, eye patch (could be painted on), cut the legs off some sweat pants in a jagged fashion and pull a striped polo shirt over his head then tie a rope belt around his waist. Easy peasy!
Be careful in the fields and have a great weekend!
i'll have computer coffee with you anytime amy!
we're heading up to my parents' little town for a Spooktacular Day. games and fun for the kids on saturday.
i'll definitely be posting pictures of halloween costumes- nic wants to be a football player, but we don't have the helmet. where am i going to find one of those?
we had the school call about a sick kid this week too! and guess what, it was the one day that i wasn't tied up in my house! i had ran to SF! so that trip was cut short. oh well, shopping is overrated anyway.
have fun in the corn.
oh yeah, and i feel that i should warn you. kerrie has been known to visit blogs just to google over a nice looking person...i think she might have a crush on you.
i just felt that you should be warned, because just between you and me....she's kind of crazy like that. :0)
HA! That cracked me up! It's true though. It has been for men, but I could make the exception.
Trust me when I say it's crush free. I do, however, envy your beauty.
Geesh...you two are making me blush! :)
Great post. Brooklyn is going to be a bride for Halloween. We finally got past the princess outfits (4 years in a row!!!) and now we moved onto a bride. I guess next year she will want to be a queen!!! ;) Cooper is going to be a monkey, how fitting for him. I am at work with my Diet Coke in hand. It was fun getting a chance to visit and we should do this again sometime soon! Have a great weekend and see you on Sunday!!!!
It's evening here and I'm all coffee'd out, thanks.
Sorry about the ear infection. The flu hit our house, but all are fine now.
No halloween over here, but always in the mood for candy, mainly chocolate.
Thanks for the chat. I'm beat! Bye.
Happy Havesting.....stay safe!
Jeremy took over for me tonight so I can go to Willow Lake to see my niece and nephew in a Halloween contest. Thank God he's old enough to give me a break now and again (that's when he is home).
Coffee? I'm in!
Alex is good, healthy, happy (overall), and ready for halloween. I just bought his costume this weekend - he's going as Jack Sparrow!
I drove to Minneapolis this weekend, saw family, had fun with friends, went to the Vikings game with Alex (walked out with my head hung low) and ate like a queen. So much fun!
Amy, wanted to let you know that God had you on my heart today. Again I was out doing yard work (our 4 acres is NOTHING compared to your back yard) and kept praying that you guys would have a great harvest with bountiful crops and safety for all!
Hey there! I'm back! Thanks for coming by and nudging me to return. So, I'm catching up and I am so into your little mini-series story. I am in total suspense! Pleeease hurry and write about what happens next. At least I know you are ok since you are alive and well today:)
I hope your cutie pie of a niece is feeling better and healing well, and oh my goodness, I love the picture of your two precious ones heading down the road with their bookbags! And then there are those kittens! Boy, things have been a bit busy at your house:)
O.K. I know its a little late for costume ideas, but I saw a ton of little boys in baseball uniforms at our recent harvest fest. Does your son play?
Here's a few more I saw:
A child of God (just everyday clothing)
A kid with foam numbers stuck all over his clothing (You can count on him)
A guy with a quarter taped to his back (A quarterback)
Smarties candies pinned all over your pants (Smarty pants)
The one we do almost every year: Paul Bunyan. Flannel shirt, rolled up sleeves, draw on some whisker stubble, add a stocking cap, work boots and jeans. We even made a fake ax since we thought a real one may be considered a weapon :-)
Hope your harvest is bountiful!
Amy,
I love coffee!...and I love the country.
We live in the 'country', too--we consider it a farm--but it's small--I guess a hobby farm is what they'd call it. We have orchards with 17 varieties of apples and pears, a garden, a shop and barns, tractor, and 8 rabbits for our kids first 4-H project while they're little. I raised beef cattle growing up, and now my kids are starting--we're getting calves in the spring and a chocolate lab. What kind of cattle do you guys have? If we could, we'd live on a big cattle ranch somewhere. Do your kids do 4-H?
What did your son end up being for Halloween? I'll check back for the pictures!
It is nice to 'meet' you over coffee--come visit sometime at http://trclassen.blogspot.com.
