New Look

A few weeks ago I made an appointment to get my hair highlighted and cut off because I was so sick of my perm. Wouldn't ya know it, a few days later I kind of started to like it again. Well, the day of my appointment was coming up and I kept going back and forth on what to do. I had kind of decided to just leave it long but go ahead with the highlights. The thought of not being able to pull it back into a pony tail, or up in a messy bun worried me. I called my sister for advice - she told me to just shave it all off. She was joking of course, but nevertheless, no help. I asked Trevor what his opinion was and he said to cut it off short and add the highlights. HELP!!!

Well, today was my appointment and I kid you not, I probably changed my mind every mile on my way into town on what I was going to have done. I even wanted to cancel but I knew I couldn't do that to my stylist. I had several pictures of short hair cuts that I thought were so cute - but would they look that way on me???? So I got to the salon and we talked it all over, about still having some curl left, what length would be best, what highlight shade would be okay. You name it - we covered it. I'm sure my stylist was wishing she'd called in sick today after all my questions.

Anyway...this is what we came up with and how it turned out.

AFTER:

I took this as soon as I got back home - I hadn't even tried to work with it yet, so no snickering. It's a little too light and will take some time to get used to, but I'm glad I cut it off. I got 5 inches cut off but I can still get it in a pony tail if I want. I think I might go back soon and have her razor the back a little more yet. So, anyway, that's the new look I'm sporting. What do y'all think. Don't be shy, I can take the criticism.

I think it looks great! You are very pretty both ways.
I do the same thing with my hair sometimes too. Do I want it shorter or longer or curly or straight.

I LOVE the new do! You look so young with shorter and blond hair... I hope the kids have ear plugs in tonight... 'cause Trevor is not going to be able to keep his hands off of you!
Away with the snow and the hair!

I like the new do....looks so much lighter and I like the highlights. I know what you mean about making those decisions to cut or not to cut, etc. How did Trevor and the kids like it?

You look MAH-velous, DAH-ling. If I didn't know better, I would swear you had been living on some sun-drenched island for the past four months.

Hey Amy
I really like it! it looks great... what does hubby think of it?? The kids must have thought Mommy looked beautiful.....it's a big change for you... and it's great that you like what she did.. because that's what counts the most!!

i love the way you described your anguish about it! i go through the exact same thing. once your hair gets long it is so difficult to cut it.

i think it look fabulous. i love the way highlights look on darker hair. mine always look so much more subtle. the cut is adoreable too.

oh man...now what am i going to do? i have been going back and forth on scheduling a hair appointment and what i'd ask her to do! it sounds like you have a great stylist, i'm jealous.

I love it, you look great! I think you will really like it this summer, it will be a lot lighter for you and like you said, can pull it up into a ponytail yet too. Can't wait to see it in person!

Very cute Amy! It is perfect for summer.

CUTE, CUTE!! It looks great! It's hard to go from dark hair to blonde. I did that and my poor husband likes my hair darker. Needless to say he wasn't impressed. But I agree...your new color looks great for summer!!

I found your blog link on Lori B's and thought I would check it out..hope you don't mind :)!

I think your hair looks great!! I do the same thing on the way to my hair stylist everytime I go. It never fails that my hair always starts to look good and do what I want it to do right before my hair appointment. I think you made the right decision...and it'll be perfect for summer time!

I really like it! And I think it brings out more of a family resemblance between you and your sister, something I don't usually notice. Perhaps it is the lighter color. I always look for something better or different with my hair, but end up with the same old thing. Good for you for going through with it!

Like someone would say it looks awful, hehe.
You are so beautiful! How could you go wrong. Are your teeth really that white? I love it. I love white teeth, hehe.
My kids always flip out about cutting their long hair. It's been so long since I had long hair. I'm working at growing mine. I think you did great! Hope your husband remembers that new woman in his house is YOU!

I love the cut and the new color - it looks great, you look great. The pink shirt is a great color for your complexion too! Do you find yourself swinging your head side to side with some of the weight of your hair gone? I do that when I get a few inches off.

Ooo, I like! I love the highlights. I'm guilty of being a major hair changer, lol. This past Thanksgiving, I cut off 8 inches for locks of love, and just this past Saturday, I went blonde. I love changing it up. Yours turned out great, very pretty:)

Amy you make me sick!! You are one of those girls thats pretty no matter what you do! Now I love all the looks! I love your hair dark & curly but this new look is becoming too!! So you can enjoy your change & when you get tired you can change again & you will still be pretty! Now if you really knew me you would know I dont lie & if your hair looked bad...I would tell you!!

I wasn't able to view the before pic, but I love the highlighted color. Now tell me something... how did you get out of the hair salon without having your hair down up all poofy and buffount(sp)? For me, they always (haha like once a year) do a bunch of funky stuff with the blow-dryer that I would never do on any regular basis. So, I was thinking that your new doo looks nice and manageable. How that happen?

I hope you are liking it.

karen...it's the NATURAL CURL! for some reason the stylists' think that it's a lump of cotten candy and they just want to fluff it up so pretty...thankfully they at least don't dye it pink and try to eat it!

I love it Amy! I think it's totally not fair that you are that cute! The color is very pretty on yuo and the cut is a great length. Well done!

Did you have it done in Watertown?

I really really like it! I think it looks good light, if I may say it brings out your eyes! I think I might be inspired to get highlights but a reddish tone, I will have to sleep on it for many many days!HEHEHE
